Default What to do?

Ok, here's my dilemma. I'm 23, living at home, making good money. My girlfriend needs to buy a car, and offered to buy my civic from me for $9000. I've never had that legendary fun car that most men have at some point in their lives that they remember when they're old. I'm seriously considering selling her the civic, putting about 10-11k down on a 2003 WRX (since you can get them for cheap since the '04s are out). On the other hand, I could do the responsible thing and keep my Civic, do without the fun car, and save for a house. My civic is totally paid off, so any money I make that isn't already accounted for by bills could be put towards the house. My dad is kind of leaning toward me getting the WRX since financially I should be able to do it, and because this may be the only time in my life that I might be in a position to do something like this. On the other hand, my civic is a great car with only 30k miles on it, and will last me forever. What do you guys think? What would you do? Should I splurge on the car, or be responsible and save for the house???

get a cheaper fun car [project car] and keep your civic. its more fun to build something up yourself than to earn money to buy something expensive

see, the thing that is making me lean towards a WRX rather than a project car is that I really think I should get something AWD for winter. I need to be at work no matter what come winter, and after this past one we had, I think AWD might come in handy. I really don't know if I could see myself in an SUV either (maybe a CRV, but thats about it)

23...living at home...worried about a "fun car" and debating getting said "fun car" over a house to live in :slap:

Save for the house and keep what you have or get a cheaper reliable car since FWD does fine in the winter if you know how to drive.

not when it's a blizzard, and the roads havent been plowed. I would rather have AWD than fwd. Theres no such thing as a snow day in our profession. Thats why I still have my old 77 Fj40.

keep the car, move into an apartment and start working your ass off (assuming you've got a good job that you plan on having for awhile) for a down payment on your own place.

I'd say get the WRX, but honestly, you're 23 and living at home. It's time for you to move on dude.
