series actually went off the air with the old format, clarky got rid of tiff and vicki and got the other two block heads. that made the show much more entertaining.

Exactly Rick. The original Top Gear is now a comedy show, not a car show. This one seems more like a car show.

it's the FIRST episode. not much to tell based on one single episode how the series will turn out. hell TG Australia is on 3rd season and IMO their first season was worse than TG Americas first episode. i don't believe if they used the exact same formula for usa as they did for UK it will work as well as it does in the UK. they tried that with TG Aussie and it failed miserably.
as i said before. I wouldn't be surprised if they change up the cast for next season. all 10 episodes for this season have already been shot so they wont change the cast for the first season.

wasn't horrible wasn't great. give it a season and see what happens. i'm going to guess there will be some host changes though

what bugs me about top gear uk more than anything is hearing

Saw the premiere. No chemistry between the hosts so they compensate with cheesy scripts. The camera work is awesome though. Its easy for us to knock the first episode because this show has big expectations. Right now it seems like a car show for car guys whereas TGUK is a car show that is viewer friendly to everyone. Gotta give it some time so the hosts can get comfortable imho.
