Also it wasn't nearly offensive enough. I only caught one racist joke in the whole episode.

+1 on the midget thing.

And Top Gear is a franchise, that's how they can fund the "original" show. The Aussie one wasn't great at first either.

Damn, didn't realize it had premiered already. Will see if I can find a rerun. I'm always up for more car shows, and I like the idea of an American Top Gear type show, but from the previews it appeared to be too obviously a rip off. I heard that Adam Carolla was in one of the original pilots, but didn't make it in this version. Dude is hilarious, that definitely would have been watchable.

Aussie one still isn't great but better. They went through about 4-5 people the current cast is the best of the bunch... still not great.

As for calling the Top Gear, why the hell not? Clarkson gets his cut so I don't see the problem.

got it on dvr so gonna watch it tonight. i like tanner as a driver but he is a bit a bore. like others have said the OG top gear changed hosts too and have years of experience. they can't follow the same exact format. i'll give it some time to work out as it is a car themed show, sorta like how we all ended up watching fast and furious just because h:

you gotta remember, the first couple seasons of Top Gear were pretty lame compared to later years. Maybe it'll improve :dunno: I don't think anyone can rival Clarkson in the pompous douchebag category, but it's better than watching powerblock

I'm really glad I DVR'd it.

Because I was able to skip through the boring parts. The presenters seemed awkward, unexcited, and at times forced. They just lack that sense of showmanship that the UK presenters have. The were so bland in fact that it felt like there was something wrong with the audio. Still in the few scenes where the did loosen up there was a little potential. If they just stop trying to make a show and start having fun it will be more entertaining. But as it is it was pretty painful to watch at times.

oh no you di'int kay: I like powerblock. It's not exciting but it's not really intended to be. It's interesting to see how some of those things are done.
