but your going on the chances that you'll get a couple thousand strikes in that "large field".... that's unlikely.

What kind of capacitor? Do you mean like a "flux" capacitor?

There can be 200 ft. lightning rods spaced 100 ft from eachother. Each one will be routed to, I don't know, some sort of capacitor/battery pack or something. Or better yet, the rods can be electrostatically charged to attract the lightning. Then we'd have to space them out further to prevent static shocks between them.

A flux capacitor. Hmm. Don't know what is. But I'm sure with each strike we'll end up time traveling.

You'd be risking your business on odds that are tremendously against you. Also, haven't you heard the saying"Lightning never strikes the same place twice." Not to bring you down or anything, but it wouldn't work... in fact it would be such a huge failure that you'd never live it down, kind of like those guys that looked all stupid trying to build a plane, but all they had was a bike with wings...

For instance, night vision goggles. Yes they have them, but they aren't in color. If they could make goggles that measure the wavelengths of objects and compare those wavelengths with wavelengths of actual colors, then it would display the right colors and have a color image instead of green.
i'm pretty sure the reason they use green is because the human eye can best distinguish between shades of green. so in a low light situation, we use green so we can better percieve contrast. i'm sure eventually down the line they will figure out some way to get color night vision.

And then when lighting strikes several times in quick sucession and your capacitor explodes, what do you do?

Replace it? Damn, I didn't think of that. Maybe, a computer can be hooked to the capacitor/batterypack that measures how much the capacitor/batterypack is full. Once it reads it full, it then positively charges the pole so lightning doesn't strike it anymore? Here we go, when the computer senses that the capacitor/batterypack is full, it then reroutes the lightning rod to the ground. Ah ha!
