from what i've read, Alpha users will get free expansion packs too. Betas and full versions need to fork out for those.

Minecraft has about 800,000 paid subscriptions.

With that said, Zynga (maker of Farmville) released a new game, Cityville. That just hit 22M registrations in 11 days. Damn.

Yeah, but those games suck and are based through facebook, so all it takes is a "like" button virtually.
