the reason ie seems to take less ram is because it's an extension of windows explorer

thats what i remember. if thats what he meant, than MSIE still costs money, $10 for the cd mailed to your house.

Exactly. Buying the MSIE CD is exactly like buying the Netscape CD. There always was the option of going to ftp*.netscape.com and downloading it for free.

Or you could look at it another way: You get a "free" browser only when you buy a $200+ operating system. Such a deal!

and yet it doesnt provide basic hardware functionality like um...burning a gd cd.
