1. POS components and fork
2. dont ever ride a nice bike in sand, ever
3. disc add on for frame is a joke at best, swap forks for disc mounts up front, but v-brake rear is fine for anything you would be doing
4. pass on this bike

there are many many better deals to be found than this bike
there isnt any reason to get a bike this new if you arent going disc, look for late 90's high end bikes in the same price range with far better components

But remember its all relative...

1. POS components to avid riders But they will shift your chain.
2. I dont disagree Sand gets everywhere But its up to you.
3. I agree. If the frame doesnt already have the mounts for disc, skip it.
4. I disagree If you can grab it at $200, I think it is a good deal, for around here at least.

Man, I wanna ride my bike

fyi, as an example, i am selling my old mtb to a buddy for $200, here is what he is getting

specialized stumpjumper m2 frame 18in
rock shox judy xc fork with speed springs (red meduim weight)
shimano xt/lx components
avid speed dial v-brakes / single digit levers
z21 front rim / lx parralax hub
sun rhino mustang a-offset rear rim / xt hub
titec dh monkey riser bar
lock on grips
handful of other slightly blingy parts

i would ask $350 on CL, but you can find deals like this all day long around $200-300 if you know what you are looking for
late 90's high end hardtails are a dime a dozen now, full squish and disc brakes have driven value down to nill

well thats the thing . . . i've been watching for months. this is the first cannondale ive found in decent shape for a somewhat good starting price.

and yea, so i went next door just now and talked to the cannondale dealer . . . if the bike isn't setup to run disc i'm not swapping it over lol.

Scrolled down to say this. The only US made bikes are $4K+ road bikes (Trek Madone) and a couple high end MTBs.
