tile is great if you know what you are doing, but for an inexperienced person its easy to end up with cracked tiles in a yr when you add heavy objects with small footprints that vibrate on top of them, there are strategies to avoid this of course and if you plan accordingly shouldnt have any issues, but on an uneven floor in a high foot traffic area with lots of sharp heavy pointy things to chip and crack away at it, is it the best option in the first place?
i would still do tile though h: just think ahead (tile size thickness etc...)

as far as wtf is going on under there, are you saying that it is two different cement pours that make up the subfloor?
or part concrete part something else framed out?
whats the wall foundation like?
im confused
What do you mean by bandaiding the problem on a home I own?

I wish I brought my camera. I can upload the pictures tonight.

The laundry is an addition to the house. They used the original slab, which was a step into the house, and poured additional concrete to make the area bigger. So yes, there are 2 different pours...you can clearly tell them apart. The additional pour is very rocky and has separated from the original slab, which is the crack.

What is a wall foundation?

I am looking at Ardex K15, http://www.ardex.com/cms%5CAssets%5C...-spec-us-e.pdf . If I end up using that, I just might have a concrete floor for the laundry room and skip the tiling if it looks nice. They just seal and shine it.

That is what was found under the wood...very uneven blocks of concrete slabs. I think I am going to research self leveling concrete and see how they turn out. Maybe I can use that as the floor

Rooms are painted. I had recessed lighting installed and converted fusebox to breakerbox last weekend. Sofa is coming in this saturday. I still want to tile my bathroom and kitchen floors. I guess I should start by removing the linoleum first to see what is underneath.

Doesn't your washing machine have adjustable feet? haha

Found an asian contractor that my uncle recommended. We should grab food sometime. I haven't even moved in yet. Don't even have a tentative date. You should check it out. It's only less than 5 mins away from where I live currently.
