Default Displacement Question...

I have no clue what displacement is. Is it the bigger the better? What does cc mean anyways. Where can I read ALL about it? Enlighten me please.

cc = cubic centimeter. 1000cc = 1L.

to get an idea of how small 1.8L of displacement, take a look at a 2L coke bottle. the 2L still have .2L more space than an engine with 1.8L displacement.

for increasing torque bigger the better, for high rpm, the smaller the better. it all depends on the tuning and how the engine is set up. a corvette Z06 with 5.7L of displacement will lose in the 1/4mi to a 1100cc Gixxer. :chuckles:

it's the measure of the total swepted(probably using the wrong word) area of the piston. take the area of the face of the piston and multiple that by the distance it travels from TDC to BDC. then multiply that by the number of cylinders.

that's the quick explanation

displacement: most likely your honda has four cylinders. if u fill in those four cylinders with water, that will be your displacement. its is the internal volume of the cylinders. displacement = volume of your cylinders. usually the more displacement, the more power !

The swept volume of all of the the cylinders.

1000cc=1 liter

1 liter=61 cubic in.

Torque is a directly related to displacement.

If you want big torque out of a small displacement, you'll have to add a blower.

if you fill the cylinders, that wont get you the correct displacement.

it's not just the internal volume of the cylinders.

oh, yea there is also calculations for the "swepted(probably using the wrong word) area of the piston" as mentioned by DakarM. but yea, basically its the volume of your cylinders.
