Default So about my overheating car

Still trying to troubleshoot the problem bu I don't know much about the cooling systems.

Ok so here's where I'm at with this:

Both fans are working where car is running

Left the car idle for 10 min and did not overheat

Coolant full in both reservoir and rad

The overheating doesn't occur in one shot. This morning driving to work I had the AC on all the way and the needle stuck just 1 click below the middle (normal). So the heats up until that poit and the cooling system works great. But after say 20min of driving at normal temperature all of a sudden te needle starts creeping to the H. If I turn offthe AC the needle settles back to the normal temp. When I say turn off AC I don't mean turn the heat on... Just turnin the AC is good enough.

Was at the garage to balance the tyres... They saying the thermostat is probably the problem. Does that seems right?

Check for a leaky bypass valve...

that's the next thing i was going to do... flush the system cause i dont know what coolant or water to coolant ratio the previous owner was using. But does it really matter all that much? could the coolant be losing its effectiveness after 20 min of driving? I'm no expert but the fact that the car maintains its temp for a while and all of a sudden it start to overheat makes me think it can't be the coolant.

What coolant do you recommend BTW?

and yes for the G35

I hate when a car over heat... i remember having to pay lik 1K in repairs when my old E30 over heated and blew a headgasket. Every time i see that needle going up I kind of freak out... it's like seeing the water rising in the toilet after flushing a big shit... that feeling is the same!

maybe you should ask a nissan/infinity board. Chances are someone has had the same problem and a solution has been found.

I did... all i got was:

check the fan is working, check the raditor is full, check the reservoir. Doesn't seem like a common problem so i figured i'd ask here...
