Default brother just a 350Z---opinions

got a chance to wring it out. He has the performance model, LSD but with 17s.

Great seats, plenty O' headroom, fat wheel, good pedals.

Engine sounds terrible--wholly unditinguished, and is too quiet--which was probably done on purpose. And there's LOTS of road noise up thru the rear hatch.

The motor never comes on the cam--it's COMPLETELY linear--a disappointment if you're a VTEC driver.

Shifter is too stiff and mechanical for my tastes.

Steering has a natural heft that puts Honda to shame but theres not a lot of feel.

The handling is the car's best feature, although there's a lot of understeer even in sweepers. And you can really feel the extra 350 lbs.(over my lude). And the RE040s are crap.

What I would change:

Lose 300 lbs.
Add Stillen exhaust
Dial out the understeer
Needs the 18s, but without the RE040s.
Upgrade the pathetic stereo

I think us Honda people would be happier with an RX-8.

I like the looks, but I HATE the interior......it looks nice until you start playing with it and realize how cheap it is. Seems to be every nissan car nowadays. Fast, looks good, horrible interior.

a good friend of mine just bought one.. handles like a dream. interior is kinda odd looking but very comfortable. I wasnt that impressed with the power.. says its got 287hp to the crank and a few dyno charts rated the car at around 235 to the wheels

well i like the G35 coupe lookswise, i just drove my friend's 6-sp the other day, felt very nice, the acceleration to 60 isn't as good as it is from 60-100, and very neutral in the corners

as for the power delivery, yeah it's linear but is that so bad? hehe, vtec makes you psychologically believe that your engine is going somewhere when you rev it to redline, but c'mon, hehe

i have no complaints about the linear power delivery. it's a welcome change to driving hondas over the past 10 years.

the things i dont like about the Z are the interior and the tacky application of 'Z' badges everywhere.

personally i would pick the G35 over the 350z it just looks so much tighter. but performance wise the 350 has an edge. i'm not too hot on the appearance though. if i wanted to have a stupid door handle i would've grabbed it off of a walk-in freezer(which it looks like they did).

The car is kinda nice but they screw it up wit the chrome door handles and the tail lights.

Not a real fan overall of the car from the factory at all though.

 i would get a G35 coupe also. in the april issue of car and driver they said that the G35 actually tested faster than the 350Z that they had tested a couple months before.
