Germany bound
just dropping in to say :wavey:
made it thru basic fine.....we started w/ 58 in my platoon, but only 34 of us made it thru. it was quite funny to have guys 1/2 my age who couldn't keep up w/ me
the APFT requirements are on a "sliding scale" dependant on age. you are required to meet a minimum 50pt requirement in 3 sperate categories : pushups, situps, & 2-mile run....i graduated w/ a 220 overall score. i recently took a PT test for shits & giggles w/ a guy in my class & scored 272. shooting for that 300
i'm now at Ft. Gordon in Augusta, GA doing my AIT school.....starting week 9 of 22 weeks. found out a few weeks ago that i was going to Mannheim Germany on a 2yr change of deployment after i finish here.
school ends around mid-sept, then i have a week of "field training", followed by about 2-3 weeks of out-processing. after that, i have 2 weeks of Hometown Recruiter back in Nashville + a week of leave, before heading to Germany

sup....marines was my choice YEARS ago, but never took the plunge
...& now too old, so army was the only way i could go

i took the ASVAB & scored a 96 (outta 99 for those that don't know). all my composite scores were very high & i was offered Crypto Linguist which had a 60k bonus & the AIT for it was 18 MONTHS
....unfortunately, it took longer than anticipated to do my over-40 physical (since i turned 40 before graduating BasicTraining) & the job closed before all my paperwork was finalized
i took the 25P as a 2nd choice....since i had 10 years experience doing a bit of the job working for AT&T
...& now too old, so army was the only way i could go h:my MOS is 25P
