certain models of DVD rom (BenQ) are loud as shit. Also, the fans bearings go after a while.

Naw. Only if I have to replace the current Arcade / Halo adapter. The current machine runs at room temperature though. Even after Halo hell (5+ hours a night), this machine is in great shape. Doesn't even get hot.



Now, if there's some crazy hacking break through on the slims, done deal.

The old setup had separate chipsets for the CPU / GPU. Microsoft thought they'd be able to get BOTH on the same chip dye now ... and well ... kaboom.

I believe it's a 65nm dual purpose chip on the "Valhalla" motherboard.
