You need to see the world my friend... you need to explore those places and see the politics and education these people have. Unlike what you think you do need an education to rise up agaisnt a government, you need education to realize the land youre ancesters have lived on for thousands of years might be prone to such disaters, you need support to move to a land with less risks.
IMO you're blinded by the comfort level we have here in the "developped world" and you wouldn't imagine how some people live in the world. I'm not talking how they live in shacks, i'm talking relize that what seam common sense to you is actaully from education, support, ressources. All of that which we take for granted a third of the world lives without.

do we have it good here in the US? yea but that doesnt make us blinded. common sense does not come from education ... hence it being called common sense. a cat sticks its nose in a candle once and gets burned ... that cat is going to be very leary of anything fire from then on. That's basic common sense, if a cat can have it so can someone in a hut who lives in china with an oppressive govt. it's a sense of survival ... and if you dont have it or are too stupid to at least listen to it then i have no pity for you.
as for people standing on a podium and talking ... there is non better on here than you because everytime there is a thread like this your first response is well you're all american and dont know anything about the rest of the world.

it doesnt take education tark to look at a flood that happens every year and realize maybe you should at least be ready for it every spring in simple ways as small as building an earthen damn. you had people thousands of years ago with enough common sense to do things like this.

Its common sense to realize that you can't take out a tumor with mikeshift witchcraft and it's common sense to put up ramps or a pouli system instead of stairs in order to move buckets of rocks up to a 3rd level. It's common sense to not threatened people you're beggin money from and it's common sense to not kill the lizards you're trying to sell as a pets. It's common sense to not take a shit, throw dead bodies, throw your trash in the same river you drink from, clean your clothes and worship as sacrade. Unfortuantly these are all things that i know first hand that some people in the world do not have the "common sense" that you think is so innate.
It's easy as fuck saying : "they should've had better contructions, thye sould move somewhere where earthquakes are less frequent, they should build a damn, it's their fault."
You really need to step out of your little close minded life and see how most of the world lives. How 2 countries in the world has 30% of the population and how most of those 30% are ignorant just surviving people trying to live and don't know shit about anything. It's barelly human to let these people live like that and it's just plain stupid to say shit like "just buil a dam" or "move somewhere else".

and as for your river reference ... i assume you are referencing somewhere like india and yea you know what they know it's wrong its not like that government doesnt know that it's unsanitary. they know they just don't care ... so tell me why i should feel sorry for a people who just don't care?

I love when you two start bitchin at eachother on whose point is right. Gotta agree with Jess though. You cant help those who wont help themselves. I like the point of if you live in a flood prone area, and know that the floods come say every spring, my ass would be building some type of damn during the winter so my house doesnt get washed away. Doesnt matter if youre poor or have a suppressive govt, stupid is stupid, no matter how you look at it.

I feel sorry for someone who acuses people of the poorest countries in the world of being ignorant. Ignorant is lack of education. Education has little priority when you're just wondering if you'll be able to eat tonight.

You're right hte people that die in major disaters only have themselfs to blame. They should've had better construction, protection and if India, china are full of villages of people that are ignorant it's because its population do not want to help themselves.
