Minor stupid issue, yes I know. Still.

Is it possible to get Windows Messenger to not start up every time XP Home boots? I don't use it and I hate having the extra icon in my system tray even though it hides the idle icons. It's the principle of it, ya know? I don't want Microsoft's crappy instant messaging software and I want to get rid of it.

If you meant the MSN Messenger thingy.... go into control panen and into add/remove programs. then click on Add/remove windows components.... wait for it to load... scroll down and uncheck MSN Messenger... hit next and finish and close it all and reboot

Cool I got rid of it, I think. I went into "Set Program Access and Defaults" and set the default instant messaging program to AIM. Hopefully that should take care of it.

I don't think that will actually get rid of the program... possibly just close it till next reboot. *shrug* I removed it on my first boot of WinXP so I don't really know.

I already have it closed, I exit it every damn time I boot.

If it doesn't get rid of the stupid tray icon I'll uninstall it.
