Default Do pushups build muscle?

Some guy was telling me that pushups dont build muscle at all.. i thought since your putting resistance on your mucles, it causes the muscle to grow..

but this guy said they dont build muscle, it tightens them or some shit.. i was kinda confused at what this guy was saying.

Toning = defining muscle. Keeps them tight. More weight will increase muscle mass, more reps/less weight will build up definition.

you have to damage your muscle in such a way that it rebuilds itself bigger. resistance exercise usually wont do that.

do decline puchups, because the angle is greater, you put more weight on your arms. put your feet up on a chair, table, countertop, etc.
