That'll be 40 more people we'll have mutual contact with that he will be able to twist stuff on. I lost several friends when I moved out of his place because of the lies and deceitful stories he made up to tell people. That's who he is by nature, a story teller.
I've spent 8 months trying to earn the respect of the other volunteers, I don't want to have to defend myself on everything, so I feel I may have to scale back a bit and have the friendship be a little less involved.
I like this.

I would bring the subject up because that is a pretty serious character concern. If he is going to stab you in the back and cause issues for a person he has known for years then what will he do to the people in the firehouse and what safety concerns might it raise in the future?
I would give him the 50 bucks and call it a lesson, but I would most definitely be having a chat with the chief simply as a concern of the house.
