Attn HAN: recommend me laptops
The processor fan on my lenovo just took a shit, but i've had it for a couple years, and am going to fix it myself.
But it looks like i'm going to be in the market for a new one in a couple months. Def going Lenovo.

Dell deals on C2D computers should be pretty good seeing as the C2D is currently at it's end-of-life.
I'll also suggest getting something more up-to-date than the T6600, esp if you can get something that has VT- it's more important to get newer technologies than the higher clock rate IMHO (for example my sisters Core Duo doesn't support x86-64 and it's probably going to be one of the biggest reasons to upgrade the whole computer)
:edit:
Also, don't forget to check the flash video and H264 compliance from the video cards offered, it will drastically affect your multitasking during video playback online and off.

Word, ours is decently good. Its been dropped, filled food crumbs, yelled at, and it still works after 3 or so years. Just basic internet and photoshop use. Only complaint is the battery doesnt last for more than 20min but I heard thats the same for all sub $1000 laptops.
I was inspired by this thread to use my lenovo.. I LOVE typing on this thing. The keyboard is hands down the best "feeling" out there.. The keys are all solid and there's no button squirm. This laptop is a TANK. I'd def. recommend a lenovo thinkpad.
I think this is the laptop I'm getting tomorrow. I can't remember the model number.

Processor doesn't support VT though, so if you were hoping to make use of the more advanced XP mode in windows 7 or running a virtual linux box I'd be weary (this came into play for me when I tried to install my trusty iTunes 6 on a 64-bit Win 7)

They are tagged as Intel i3 processor, but it's really an i5

Had to drive 2 hours to another city to get it.
