I've never had any packages stolen and almost always they are left but, then again, I've never lived in a place where I had to worry about that sort of stuff and hopefully never will.

That said, I'd definitely get signature confirmation if I was sending to someone who lived in an apartment/townhome setting.

i'm pretty sure with ups it is up to the driver whether or not to leave the package, if a signature is not required.

I sometimes get nervous with packages that get delivered to my apt, but the general rule of thumb is pretty much they don't leave anytrhing. I've had some neighbors sign for my packages and I raised a fit over that to UPS.

Nothing like checking the status of your package and it states that it was signed by some unknown name.

If I had shipments signature only, I'd never get them. I work during the day, its not like I can be home when they drop by.

I don't mind it if the driver uses common sense, like if its a private door and the risk of theft is low leave the fucking package. But if you are leaving it in the shittiest city in the US, you better damn sure have a reason. I would contest that charge on my credit card because that is total bullshit.
It's not toal bullshit. Requiring signatures is a huge hassle and highly inefficient. Nobody is ever home when UPS/FedEx drops by. If its something extremely expensive I understand, but its just not feasible with EVERY shipment.

Again, its not either company's fault, I'm not going to game the system because some unfortunate shit happened. Shit happens, fuck it.

I don't remember where I read this but I recall seeing that it's the drivers discretion whether or not to leave it if no sig is req.

that's what i learned when i worked for ups. they had a video showing how to figure out the best place to hide packages. if it didn't seem safe, you keep it on the truck.
