Same thing happened to me in kindergarten. I didn't get suspended, but I did get in pretty deep shit (for a kindergartener)... they made my mom come to school and talk to the principal and shit.

stupid policy. but kid shouldn't have brought it to school. who cares if he was excited or not..who cares if there are sharper things...

break the rules..get punished. don't like the rules...do something about it or don't be in a situation where you have to follow them.

i agree but its not like he broke the rules, who associates silverware with weapons

i mean what six year old is going to think "dont bring weapons to school" means you cant bring silverware

hell i wouldnt even think to stop a kid of mine from taking silverware with him to school for his lunch. people do it all the time

had it been even a small pocket knife then fine yes follow the letter of the law ... but it was silverware. how often is the first thing you think of when you see silverware is 'oh look a weapon'

touche

and i know you're being sarcastic there but it brings up a valid point, at what point do we stop? anything can be made into a weapon so by that mindset if its a zero tolerance and you really are going to go after kids for having a butter knife to use at lunch do we stop kids from bringing scissors to school? no more sharp pencils? no more plastic bags big enough for a head? where do you stop? you could go on and
