I am considering it. Especially now that I spend a considerable amount on food and gas.

There are a few caveats to signing up, but once you do, it's worth it.

https://www.penfed.org/howToJoin/overview.asp

If you have to join NMFA, it's $25 and you pay that back pretty quickly.

You also have to put $5 in a Savings account (Credit Union).

They are very selective as well, I was able to secure a $20k line with them when I signed up. Looking back I wish I would of asked for more so I could do more of my monthly spending on the card.

There is no cap on rewards and the best part is they are posted to your account prior to the statement cutting. No waiting or figuring our your bill .

They also run random promos outside of their standard 3 rates. For 5 months this year they had 5% back on airfare. Right now they are offering 5% back on "Back to School" purchases which covers a large amount of electronic retailers, etc. This one ends 9/30 though. You can get 5% off at Dell with the back to school plus the 7% standard discount for being a PenFed member .

Capital One is pretty much the worst company out there.
