I will more than likely walk into the movie theater before noon to pay $6 for a ticket, watch this and be disgusted and probably ask for my money back h:

I heard on NPR this morning that Paramount didn't release this to critics until opening because they didn't want bad reviews to keep people from entering the theaters :rofl:

 

i went in with 0 expectations. i was entertained.


i did the same with TF2...and it did not do the same.

 

I guess I'm the only one here who liked it. I thought it was fantastic. To those that didn't like it, did you grow up watching the cartoons and playing with the action figures? I sure did. GI Joe was my #1 favorite toy/cartoon.

I really liked learning more background on Cobra/GI Joe. I really liked Destro's background.

The lines were cheesy, but they needed to be IMO. That's how the cartoon was.

CGI was good for the most part. A couple of places looked bad, but for the most part it looked good.

I just wish there was a moral lesson at the end of the movie like in the cartoons. Knowing's half the battle. h:

On a side note, I was supposed to see this w/ RicoD. He canceled...

I totally agree. I liked it b/c it was entertaining. If anyone thought this movie was outrageous or cheesy.... then they are not fans of the cartoon. The cartoon is way cheesier and way more outrageous. Even though it didnt follow the cartoon exactly...they did a good job adapting it for the big screen... better than others.

i felt the same way wharbone. i used to watch the cartoon religiously. couldn't say that about transformers. but every morning before school and every day after school i would watch GI Joe. I remember having to go to school after seeing Duke get stabbed by Serpentor (cause they ran the movie on TV in 4 parts) it wasn't a good day.

 

they did pre-screening to people in the army and their family and friends at all sorts of army bases.... and 'hand picked' media/bloggers

they didn't want it to end up like TF2 ... where all the critics said it sucked, yet the movie grossed so much money and "real people" liked it.

 

:rofl: i remember that episode. they actually showed blood from Duke's chest too. that was awesome
