I think the easiest solution is to change your privacy settings for "Photos Tagged of You" to set to "Friends Only".

You should be safer. If you don't want your friends to see them, have them deleted.

I untag and have tagged photos set to be viewed by me only. I hate when people post (rare) photos of me while drinking. I'm not in college anymore, no excuse for that these days.
