So Iran.... haven't seen any threads on this..
On topic maybe?
Been following on Twitter sporadically the past couple days.. very fascinating, actually.
Thoughts?
You all can probably guess where this tree hugger stands.

The election results have to be bogus. Ahmadinejad *might* have won, but certainly not by the margin the results show. I'm glad the people are taking it seriously and taking it to the streets. I think the Iranians take democracy a bit more seriously than Joe American.
I hope the protests in the US don't get out of hand.

Exactly. This has gone above just the reaction to the election. It's proving the power of the people. Emergency meetings are being called with the higher-higher ups.
From the voter's perspective, we're talking about a generational shift in policy colliding with a theocracy that is powerful enough to quash it... almost.
While it would be impressive to see the people succeed where the Mossadegh coup d'etat failed, I doubt it will happen.

I heard that Iran's population is 2/3 under the age of 33, so they certainly don't remember the revolution. I'm not so sure they're going to give up so easily. I grew up with a lot of kids who's parents fled when Khomeini made them bail.
