There will always be fans and haters. Not every feature on the phone will suit everyone's needs nor will it be better or worst than other phones on the market. For what it is, it's a great multi purpose phone for the average user.

With that said, yeah I think I will probably pick up the new 3GS.

3gs does nothing my jailbroken 3g can't do. I think the 3gs is a pathetic excuse for a "new" iPhone.

Last weel not so funny iPhone true story. I was driving the company's truck to pickup some computers at another unknown location. I was driving with this chick and she was doing all the navigating on her iPhone. I followed her directions and got so damn lost that we almost end up in NJ. Finally I ask her to show me her iphone+maps and I was like wtf this thing is not even a real gps what a crap. I took out my touch pro and loaded Google maps and I was on my way in no time.

It's awesome that they are updating it, just weird that they didn't have these from the start, or with the 3g over the 2g.

This is absolutely no different than any other electronics manufacturer.

But at least we can replaced the battery for a new one or upgrade to a better one, and the same goes for application. We can create one or just download one from almost anywhere.
Apple has proven that people do judge a book by the cover. Make something that look nice and most people will buy it regardless.

Except ipods, iphones, and macs are just about the easiest to use and most functionally sound electronics on the market? Your logic makes no sense.

A: unless her shit was jailbroken it doesn't have GPS navigation available.
B: she must be a fucktard because the jailbroken xGPS app is turn by turn voice guided and works seemlessly hand in hand with google maps.
C: you said you were on your way to an unknown location, so why when the story unfolds and you whip out your bad ass touch pro did you go home.
D: this story has more holes than swiss cheese.

Yes it does. It's not 3-d, but an overhead 2-d map display, in which you can zoom in an out of and see street names. Your iPhone will continually update your position on the map and will also display your destination.
