Question for Married/Living together folks
I took the house and other loans out of my name when I declared bankruptcy and by not having other loans in my name it didn't hurt my wife's credit scores. We've always had separate credit cards. My bank account is POD to my wife, and if need be she has my access.

First, I'd like to say, i finally realized that women are retarded and that's all there is to say.
So yea, I was having a discussion with a bunch of ladies on this wedding site I spend alot of time on and the topic of how do you handle living expenses. Alot of them basically say they put all there money into a joint account and all the bills are paid out of that. I told them that we just split the bills. Since I make the most I said i'll pay the Mortgage/Rent, and all she has to cover is the utilities. Currently that means she pay electric and cable. They said that my idea was bogus and I was trying to flex my muscle over her. Currently she works about 10-20 hours at Macys making minimum wage and I of course make alot more. So it'd be silly for me to have her pay or contribute to the rent/mortgage.
Am i crazy or is it just the ladies?

when we get married i'd probably put a percentage into a joint account that's used strictly for emergencies. I just like to have control over my money and where it goes.
edit: LOL I stopped posting but i've been called a Dbag and that i'm treating Jasmine like a roommate. So i quoted them the dictionary from google "Someone who lives in a rental property with other tenant(s), sharing rent, the cost of utilities and other expenses according to mutually agreed upon terms.
" Sounds like marriage to me. :dunno:

I have to agree here. Although Mar makes more than I do, for a while I was making more than her.
I let her handle all the bills. My check gets direct deposited and our bills get paid.
When we want to buy stuff, we buy it.
If its a big purchase, I'll run it by her, but usually by that point we've both researched the shit out of what we wanna buy and it's no surprise. I've never needed to buy something at a moment's notice.
Today for example. I spent over a grand on travertine and glass tiles and another 900 on toilets.
Tomorrow I'm going back and spending another grand on a bathtub and fixtures.
It's our money and it's going in our house and we'll both use it. I PERSONALLY think that dividing everything up and keeping track of who owns what is too much of a hassle.
Sure Mar makes more, but not THAT much more. I honestly think that having a joint account is the easiest way to do things.
The only real downfall is when you wanna buy a gift. She knows how much that watch I bought her for mothers day cost.
But whatever.

But whatever.Nah, you know what I'm saying. When you get married, dividing up your personal belongings doesn't make sense. It's all community property. You can hold your breath till you turn blue, but no matter what you say, the law will always see the assets and earnings acquired/generated in the course of a legal marriage as community property; Plus if you split shit up, it's just another reason for an argument to arise. Money and egos are major causes for relationship drama.
Nah.. My bathrooms needed some major love. Plus with the market in the shitter and the likeliness that we'll be in this house for a long time, why not enjoy it right?
Home remodel krew thread coming soon.

h:I totally agree with this. I'm not sure what the point in getting married is if you aren't sharing everything?
We have a joint account that all checks go in to, we also have a separate savings that X amount is withdrawn to weekly.
I handle all bills and finances and we discuss any larger purchases.

I kick it old school, I pay for everything and she knows her place..... In teh Kitchen!
j/p But yeah I pay for everything and to be quite honest it makes me feel pretty good about myself. It's not that common anymore to see the traditional relationship roles playing out this day in age.

I dont believe in all that.
I think its fair given her work schedual and hours.
If the house is in your name/apt lease in your name...you should have primary responsibility of making sure the mortgage/rent is paid.
If thats the case I think it's fair the woman pays utilities, and possibly even groceries.
Just my opinion

eh we don't live together, but we share expenses. I pay for us to go out, she pays for groceries for my place since she stays here most days of the week. She also helps out with bills and other shit. We already discussed that when we decide to move in/marriage etc that we will both just toss our checks into one account and then pay our bills/mortgage/entertainment. I don't get all this talk about people taking out more than they put in, once you are a married couple/family I think it is a bit redic. to care who makes more. Why wouldn't you just discuss major purchases with one another and not give a fuck about the little shit as long as it fit into the overall view of the budget?
In the end jae,do what you think is right.
Your taking pre marriage advice from a bunch guys and girls on a car fourm:chuckles:
