Some mobo's dislike some ram... it happens

Do you get a post code at all? (the long and short beeps)
no post codes, switched ram like you said, now it only powers for a half second (fans dont reach full speed) and powers down.

also, put an older video card in.. that was a no go. computer wasnt even going through the bootup process, but now i have the other issue at hand.

Open the manual and start reading and checking all the wires.

Check the standoffs that ya screw the mobo into... if they are out of place, or there is an extra one shorting out the mobo - it can give the symptoms you are describing. Had it happen before.

Like I said, all my builds work fine ..and no, didn't charge.

Transferred some parts over to my rig, they are fine.. so that leaves ram/cpu/psu as possible culprits.

I'd replace the standoffs in the case - I feel as though something has to be shorting, if he's lost a mobo or two already. It has to be shorting, sometimes it will short enough just to cause gate leakage in a few components and over time it will just shit the bed. Even if it shorts enough not to boot, the part will still work for a while if set up correctly. I'd personally just buy a set of extra tall standoffs, put them in and try.

didn't bother to read the other suggestions...but try taking out all the ram except one. make sure it is in the primary spot. Then try to boot it up.
