do late model hondas have lousy brakes?
Honda Owners Say Brakes Are Made Of Worthlessness — Honda Hasn't Responded
While it's OK for messages from top-secret government agencies to self destruct, that's not the case for car brakes. But more than 200 owners of 2008 and 2009 Accords have A complained that keeping their brakes in working condition has proven to be a mission impossible. Paul's 2009 Accord is suffering from bakes breakage:

I recently (March 7) bought a new 2009 Honda Accord, and after 2 days it has brake issues. I have taken it in to Honda 5 times to still have no resolution. They "deglazed" the rotors first, a few hours after I got it back, same thing. Now they claim Honda knows about the issue and is investigating the issue.
I've got a brand new $30K car with malfunctioning brakes, and Honda knows about it and won't fix the problem. I need help.
Paul should start here and keep pressing. Honda has been known to respond to pressure after putting off dealing with important issues for as long as possible.I've got a brand new $30K car with malfunctioning brakes, and Honda knows about it and won't fix the problem. I need help.

The stock pads seem to suck, whether that's an issue w/ the company that produces the pads or something w/ the cars themselves, I don't know.
I mean even on the older cars the pads weren't the greatest in at least some cases, but they did tend to be quiet and wouldn't mess up the rotors.
Lately though the pads seem to have gotten worse, an ex. being when C&D tested a stock S2000 CR (which, other than the pads, has an excellent braking system) and ended up glazing them after only a few hot laps. It seems especially unforgivable since it was the CR, which imo should come with higher-performance pads than the regular s2k.

other than the "race/performance" versions of the cars (basically the Si's and Type-S's and S2000's), stock honda brakes suck. but then again, i also think most oem brakes suck on most manufacturers anyway.

I find the calipers to be a failing point, seen many second gen CRV's have them seize, then seize the replacement ones too. Also seen it on Accords - never had issues with the brake pads.
:chuckles:
The TL/TSX/RL all had TSB's on "brake pad material" where they release a new "better" compound to help with brake squeal and deterioration. I believe there are similar ones at Honda. The problem is that Honda doesn't tell you really. You have to dig even internally for the TSB to get the new part number so parts can order the updated parts..its a really shady system.

The ones on my 09 Civic seem to work just fine for me. A little touchy at first but you get used to it. I'd like to know what types of "malfunctions" are being talked about and what symptoms they're experiencing.
