I drove about an hour for the MDX, and an hour and a half for the TL, but I had hard numbers for everything and it was a matter of signing and picking up the vehicles. I never negotiate at the dealer. It's tough with a used car 'cause you have to inspect it to see if you even like it. Looks like a great car and a decent deal. What is the street value of the pilot?
kbb trade is 17xxx, retail is 22xxx on that year and mileage for the pilot.

I like it. try to get some wiggle room either on the price of the car or more money on your trade. Otherwise, it seems like a really nice car at a good deal.

You're going to LOVE the added convenience of moving from the versa to the pilot. :yay:

A very good friend of mine owns and is part owner if several dealership in the area. The guy he put me in contact with is the head of sales over all of the dealerships so hopefully we can come to a deal that is mutually beneficial.

like jay said, its not really that big of a deal as long as the hard numbers get worked out before i make the drive.

looks like a shitty transmission

2004 Honda Pilot POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION Recall
Recall Date
APR 15, 2004

Model Affected
2004 HONDA PILOT

Description
ON SOME MINI VANS, SPORT UTILITY AND PASSENGER VEHICLES, CERTAIN OPERATING CONDITIONS CAN RESULT IN HEAT BUILD-UP BETWEEN THE COUNTERSHAFT AND SECONDARY SHAFT SECOND GEARS IN THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, EVENTUALLY LEADING TO GEAR TOOTH CHIPPING OR GEAR BREAKAGE.

Consequence
GEAR FAILURE COULD RESULT IN TRANSMISSION LOCKUP, WHICH COULD RESULT IN A CRASH.

Remedy
ON VEHICLES WITH 15,000 MILES OR LESS, THE DEALER WILL UPDATE THE TRANSMISSION WITH A SIMPLE REVISION TO THE OIL COOLER RETURN LINE TO INCREASE LUBRICATION TO THE SECOND GEAR. ON VEHICLES WITH MORE THAN 15,000 MILES, THE DEALER WILL INSPECT THE TRANSMISSION TO IDENTIFY GEARS THAT HAVE ALREADY EXPERIENCED DISCOLORATION DUE TO OVERHEATING. IF DISCOLORATION EXISTS, THE TRANSMISSION WILL BE REPLACED IF DISCOLORATION IS NOT PRESENT, THE DEALER WILL PERFORM THE REVISION TO THE OIL COOLER RETURN LINE. THE RECALL BEGAN ON APRIL 21, 2004, FOR PILOT, ODYSSEY, AND MDX OWNERS. OWNERS OF THE ACCORD VEHICLES WILL START RECEIVING LETTERS ON JUNE 28, 2004, AND ON JUNE 29, 2004, FOR OWNERS OF THE TL AND CL VEHICLES. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT HONDA AT 1-800-999-1009 OR ACURA AT 1-800-382-2238.

Potential Units Affected
1099796

Notes

My dad had one, it was a good car. Speakers kinda sucked but that is an easy fix.
