Slavery was a part of it, no doubt but it was a small fraction of the many factors involved.

If you read and watch, you will realize the reasons why you see the distribution of red and blue states even today.

imma start flyin a Union flag.. true story, one of my great great's captured a Confederate flag.. my Grandma has it now I think, still has the blood stains and bullet holes

Thats retarded. So maybe people shouldn't have crosses on their tombstones either. Not everyone believes in christianity so it shouldn't be publicly displayed in a graveyard or otherwise

you would like the book "people's history of the united states of america" its heavy reading but good insight into the past from another point of view.

Not only that but, as Jesse stated, crosses and the American flag are symbols of other racist organizations. Should we take all of them down as well?
