it has to be remote turn on, or maybe you have the master/slave set up wrong, or are running the RCAs wrong, like not using the passthrough. Even then, the fact that the amps wont even turn on makes me think something is wrong with the remote on wire....

Yuuppppp you are absolutely correct after some reading online. Now my question is (for example) the sony amp i just showed you with the link. There's a 12V, GND but there's no "remote" wire slot. Do i connect the remote wire to the 12V terminal too?

yay! i ran a remote wire from the sony amp to the HU and it powered up........now the kenwood has a remote too but looks like a freakin phone jack, wtf is up with that. im trying to find a pic of this damn kenwood amp (kac-81520) but its discontinued so i can't find anything to show what im talking about. I have no clue how it ran before cause i swear i don't remember taking out this phone jack thing.

Remote turn on should not look like a phone jack. I think you might have misread the labels.

And that "remote" is for the remote control, not remote turn on.
