To keep costs down, I'd say go for the Samsung. Once you go PDA, they're virtually useless without a data plan and then that how you get raped in $.

i dunno, I use my Treo without a data plan... it would be nice, but I'm not going to give them my left nut every month for it.

I got the Omnia on Wednesday and after a learning curve this this is AWESOME!

It's super powerful, easily install new programs, tones, videos, etc...
Verizon network is very fast
screen is very nice
Battery life is great (now that I turned my auto send/receive from 5 minutes to 30 minutes)

Some cons:
-that the accelerometer can be finicky at times.
-Verizon crippled it by not allowing GPS
-Needs 3.5mm jack and not Samsung proprietary connector.

There is a HUGE community of Omnia users that have found many pluses/cracks/hidden items about it.

Oh yeah, and the 5MP camera is super nice!
Shoot like a pro: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...id=H_Omnia_Mar

Oh yeah...and of course they have announced the Samsung OmniaHD which looks AWESOME. OLED screen with unlimited viewing angles.
