Ubuntu here. No problems. Never had spyware or a virus.

But seriously, those buggers are tricky. Every now and again I'll have a friend ask me for help with their computer because they downloaded a virus like that. One that looked legit but wasn't.

I was advised to cease repair attempts as the owner is purchasing a new computer. If they don't want it back, I'm probably going to hang on to it for a spare.
