Default Finally....CUDA support for MPEG2

anyone who rips DVD's and has a recent Nvidia card:

http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=144867

I've gotta download driver updates first but if this is able to take the burden of decoding off of the CPU then encoding times should get a huge bump

when i rip a dvd the dvd utilization never goes over 20%. my memory utilization usually peaks around 90%. I'm betting this wont do jack for me. YMMV.

It's an AVIsynth plugin but right now it doesn't support streams (.mpg, .vob, etc..) as it's really only a few days old
use the DGINDEX to load the ripped DVD, save the project

then make a text file

LoadPlugin("DGMPGDecodeNV.dll")
MPGSource("Project.d2v")

save as .avs

that AVS file then can be used as the video input stream to any encoder you want to use, it will send the MPEG2 content to your GPU for decoding

@Rick, I'm surprised at your numbers, what program do you rip with?

OIC maybe you were doing full disc copies?

direct stream copies would be unaffected as the source never has to be decoded/encoded... this is more for rip to file crowd

if you were doing actual re-authoring with compression then I reallllly need to get myself a quad core

data storage is so damn cheap...i dont know why people still bother with compression

re-authoring with compression. you really need to get yourself a quad core.

fyi 20% on a quad core = 80% on a single core or 40% on dual core.

I have a dual core and I'm still jumping from around 70-100% usage :dunno:

I might have to test it out on my friends studio rig when he isn't paying attention h:
