girlfriend just got a 2009 nissan versa yesterday.

four door hatchback.

after spending two weeks doing the whole new car shopping with her, i feel like it's mine h:

she got the 1.8 liter. there is one 1.6 that doesn't come with a radio and is the real base model, hers has a radio, power locks, windows and cruise. the 1.8 sl has the cvt transmission, has different type seats (cloth), alloys and a center arm rest for an extra $1k. personally, i would have gotten the sl version, because i like alloys and armrests , but it wasn't in her price range (wasn't looking to buy a car, has no money saved, just out of college). she did get the package that includes a spoiler and abs. the abs dropped her insurance and the only one on the lot in the color she liked had it.

just took pictures, brb.

look at the fit. nicole didn't really like the looks of them so we didn't look into them at all. wish we kind of did, but oh well.

she had her mind set on a versa since day one, even before she really started looking.

i think consumer reports comes out with their annual car issue in march if you can wait that long.

Hyundai Elantra. My grandma got one like 6 months ago and it's really not too bad.

+1 on the Versa, haven't been in a Fit but I haven't uttered a complaint in the few versa's I've been in yet

If she's willing to go a bit beyond the price range an Elantra Touring would probably be my sub-20k choice

the versa is extremely comfortable. seats, arm rests on the doors. the trunk space is great too. the seats do not fold completely flat though.
