As to Highway 1, I did that trip in 07 and spent 5 days between Carmel and San Simeon. There are some AWESOME things to see. Eat at Nepenthe, Partington's Cove, Hearst Castle, Elephant Seal Beach (just north of the castle), all 400+ turn outs, etc...

If you and your loved one wants to do the Zoo, let me know. If I accompany you, I can get 2 people in for free as my guests h:
I wanna go to the zoo.

There are pull outs all over!

When I rented from Fox they upgraded me to a convertible for free.

As to the zoo, I get me plus 2 until March 31st.

With them I got a PT Loser convertible, so don't expect high end cars. I reserved the lowest, $10.84/day car. I think he was just a nice guy and gave me the convertible. Their lot didn't have any cars that I would want to rip around in.

Surprisingly the PT Loser doesn't have horrid handling. I drove one on the Road to Hana (on Maui) which has a SHIT ton of twisties and it held alright.

Never been so I can't answer that question.

You can always call them to reserve over the phone, and ensure you get the car you want h:
