Hey HondaHoney
anyhow...
after last year's flood we moved to a house that was down by the river (it was victim to one to three inches of water last year). really nice place and going over our area's flood history we figured it wouldn't flood again for at least a couple of years (we're in the process of buying a home so this place was supposed to be temporary). well obviously the flood couldn't wait..
we started packing up the house tuesday and after my workplace evacuated at 11 am wednesday we finished up. at that point the water was rising about 1 foot per hour at our house. we packed as much as we could and i haven't been able to go back since. we're staying at the in-laws right now b/c they are in california visiting family.
i was trapped at the in-laws yesterday as interstate 5 was closed for a 21 mile stretch and the other three back roads to head north to olympia were all flooded out as well. i was able to get to one of our rual fire depts i work for and help block the other major highway north (got to work with the Nat'l Guard, that was pretty cool). i was stranded there from 9 am to about 6 pm as the highway back home had flooded.. luckily the water receeded and i was able to get home.
we were more prepared for this flood, sadly. people don't seem to be scared or freaked out but just very depressed (although a man tried to run me over with his ford b/c he needed to save his farm animals
).
here is a picture of my back yard on wednesday around 3:30 pm (and the date is wrong so ignore it)

outside the fire station i was stranded at. this is around 11:00 am (all starting thurs)

same fire station, now both lanes are blocked with water. this is around 1:30 pm

i have more pictures on my phone but the memory card for it won't read in my camera. we're going to try to get to our house today, i'll show you all the awesome flood damage if there is any.
