Default RIAA to stop lawsuits?

http://online.wsj.com/article/SB1229...ews_technology

I have this feeling that this decision might also stem from other things... among them joe biden and his new role as VP...

but hopefully it has more to do with the whole un-constitutional nature of making people weigh millions of dollars in fines against thousands of dollars in settlement money with no trial precedents ever set in the matter [Jammie Thomas' case was called a mistrial due to the judge giving the jury incorrect instructions], all this together meant that very few- actually only 1- would ever have the confidence to even see their day in court. when mixed with already bad press a ruling against them like that would be terrible

It's has been well known for some time now that the RIAA has avoided suing anyone from harvard university because of the university's stance of standing by it's students. Maybe with Jammie's case up in the air and the current economy they're just having a change of heart.

for now... biden has been anti-piracy for a while so i don't think that it'd be out of the blue if he were to support anti-piracy bills including enforcement

There has also been a lot of talk about how the money in the cases were to be split and how much of a mess it has been
