Subaru done with rally
recession ... no money shits expensive and manufacturers pulled out
the fuel shortages saw gas stations across the nation empty yet racing leagues continued on and in the end came out better
for now it might look bad but long term it will have little bad effect

actually i am interested to see what happens to nascar next year with whats going on in detroit. i know so much of the money comes from just sponsorships overall, but the manufacturers still should be fronting most of the money for teams. i know its no where the price of how much it costs to run in F1 but still interested to see what will happen...
that happens you would prolly see mass exodus of NASCAR fans
h:
thanks for some of the info on nascar, thought manufacturer support was more dominant in that sport but i guess i was wrong. still not sure what happens if any of those companies go down though

the engines now, the engines are manufacturer specific to a point. the teams use a blank block from the manufacturer and them custom build them to meet NASCAR specs. these engines while made in a GM or Ford factory are usually designed, tested and built in the race teams garages. manufacturers really are just putting their name on it and footing the bill for some of the parts and the right to have their logo
its not at all like F1 with factory teams
I'm sure they'll be back in it in a few years time. IMO, rally needed to change and this will probably help that along. They need to lower the cost of entry and encourage privateers to get on board.
