thanks, airon. i looked up the rocketfish and based on that i think i've decided exactly how i'm going to set things up. i'd rather have my amp powering all speakers and running the speaker cable shouldn't be a big deal at all.

it will involve:

and

to replace the current plate where i brought the tv cable line up through, and use that to send the speaker cables down into the basement.

and then just bring up the speaker cables on the rear wall through this:

i thought you didnt want wall plates in the first place?

i was gonna suggest wall plates and run cables through too

get 2 of these and you're set http://www.parts-express.com/pe/show...number=261-354

(or the wall plates with 2 binding posts..but then more holes in your wall

i didn't.. but then i thought about it and it occurred to me that i could just use the existing wall plate by the TV to send the speaker cable down.

so that would mean having to cut out only one more spot on the other wall for a new plate, which would be easy to patch if i ever wanted.

i just hadn't thought it through, but this should work out very nicely. i'll get to it one day.

the 4 post plate you linked will work fine for the rear, but i'll need a 6 keystone plate for the front since i still need the spot for the coax.

for 160 bucks for my surround sound setup, it's pretty decent h: I'm going to upgrade later on though when i feel the need for it. The only thing really lacking is the non powered subwoofer, everything else is pretty good.
