I prefer console gaming, always have.
I'd rather sit on the couch and play with a remote.
And don't give me that smartass response that you can play pc games on your couch because while it is true, it's not practical for everyone.
Oh and get a 360.

I've got a Wii, 360, PS3, PC's, Dreamcast, PS1, and an NES.
Best console for online gaming IMO is the 360. Like everyone else mentioned it has better online servers, I prefer the 360 controller over ps3's, and I've got a ton of friends that I get to play with/against on the 360.

The Wii is an electronic board game. The majority of the titles have little to no learning curve, so it's easy to get into. If you have people over, Wii Sports can keep the party entertained all night. I have yet to sit down by myself and play the damn thing though. Online gaming is a joke btw.
The PS3 is up-and-coming. The game library is showing signs of life too. Don't believe the graphical hype though. This system is no better than the 360 and even worse in some cases, most noticeable in Fallout 3. The online gaming experience is free ... so don't expect much.
The 360 is a beast. The game library is hitting legendary status. (Gears of War, Halo, Final Fantasy, Viva Pinata, Mass Effect, GTA*, Fallout*, Orange Box*, Forza, Project Gotham, etc) Also, there's a huge push for more "Wii-like" titles on the machine. Casual gamers can really get into Rock Band, GHIII, Scene-It, and Castle Crashers. Xbox Live is the top online gaming service among all the consoles ... at a cost though ($40 usd for 13 months via Amazon.com).
*also on the PS3

console>computer for one reason if any reason at all- that is that the games work, period.
computer gaming is expensive, and some games that come out now actually look forward, so if you want to get the most of a game in terms of graphics you're going to have to WAIT for the technology, no matter how much money you have- with consoles it's basic WYSIWYG
