a LOT of those issues have been fixed now, I haven't had an issue with software not installing. They have been diligently updating and fixing Vista.

When I first had vista I did see a few software compatibility issues, but now over a year later not a one.

well I am going to be giving it another shot at my house soon since I need a new comp anyways and it's my only option

If it has been resolved and is now more compatible without being the resource whore I saw when I used it I will be more than happy to retract my previous comments.

I am not so hard headed I won't admit when I am wrong, but until my experience shows me I am wrong I stick by my opinions and experiences to date.

Dell actually offers a vista with downgrade options just to let you know.

Yeah not wanting the "Dell quality" and their wonderful tech support...I just can't put my money in a company like that.

Done. To be fair, my argument for Vista is that it's been working very well for me for the past several months. I rarely encounter app conflict issues, and if there is one the application can either be easily replaced by a comparable program. I don't know what exactly you do to have a problematic setup with Vista, for the most part the average complainer does not have a proper hardware setup to run Vista.

Well the purchase of a computer with Vista installed new from the manufacturer (Dell in fact  ) would seem to make the conclusion that it was properly setup to run Vista and meet it's requirements.

now granted I am not impressed with Dell in the least, why would they sell an out of box machine that is screwed before it is even fired up?

Yup. I ordered one for work for me to work on. No sign of Vista.

I wouldn't bet the farm on any pre-assembled PC (Apple may be an exception) that would run well right out of the box considering all the bloatware and bullshit configurations.....especially with a Dell

off the top of my head i dont remember any particular ones but i killed at least 10 services

i use vista at work for work and i would use it at home if it wasnt as bloated as xpsp3
