Any PS3 deals out there?
Anyone have problems with the 80gb, after some research the consensus says gt the 60gb version
h: Does the 80gb play PSone games ok? I have quite a few FF titles I would like to play, would be nice to unload my PSone.

Today's 80GB PS3 will NOT play PS2 games anymore. However, it will play PSOne titles. The last 80GB model that was PS2 emulation enabled was the MGS version.
60GB is long gone. I think it was discontinued over a year ago. :hs: On my 60, I can play PSOne and PS2 originals with no issues due to the emotion chip.

if it's any consolation, the new 80gb runs much cooler (personally verified) and apparently quieter (can't hear mine except for when the BD's spin up, so it might be true). you will also only get 2 USB ports, and no memory card slots. i think SACD support was also dropped in this version.
but aside from the SACD, i don't miss the other stuff.

Best bet is what andrew posted about the Dell deal.
The amazon deal is good, but the movies they offer doesn't make it worth it, unless you get several copies of the same movie and sell them on the side to bring your costs down even more.

I just applied for a sony card, I'm going to pickup a ps3 in December via . that is a sweet deal, thats the price point I've been waiting for, now I get to look forward to playing GTA4 and merc2.
