Today's 80GB PS3 will NOT play PS2 games anymore. However, it will play PSOne titles. The last 80GB model that was PS2 emulation enabled was the MGS version.

if it's any consolation, the new 80gb runs much cooler (personally verified) and apparently quieter (can't hear mine except for when the BD's spin up, so it might be true). you will also only get 2 USB ports, and no memory card slots. i think SACD support was also dropped in this version. but aside from the SACD, i don't miss the other stuff.
