thats like asking to the gun crew to recomend a gun.

What kind of photography are you looking to do? i could recomend a great macro lense but if you hate macro photography... you know the rest give us some details.

And i would recomend you get a couple of memory cards. They fail sometimes and loosing all you pictures at once suck more then just loosing half.

i left it broad to see what answers i would get for what guys use the most ...

i have a starter and a 70-200 for my canon at home and i just wondered if a 70-200 is necessary for average photography cuz if so i think imma sell my canon one and get one for the nikon on the cheap ... i dont use my 70-200 too often with the canon as is though soooo yea

what tark said. however, most agree that the 18-200VR is the best all around lens. 70-200 isn't useful unless you do a lot of outdoor long range shots like at a track. my least used lens is the 80-400mmvr.

you should be happy with that one lens for 90% of what you want to do.

I have the 18-55, 55-200 lenses and if I could (money holding me back) I would sell those and buy the 18-200 VR lens. The lenses are WONDERFUL I just do a lot of outdoor indoor switching, and all the lens switching is not good for the internals.
