If you're getting one for lugs and such, you can buy the Ingersal Rand 3/8" titanium pneumatic gun. I got mine almost a year ago and I LOVE IT! I use it all the time especially for loosening lugs at work. 280 ft/lbs of reverse torque. I paid 300 for it back then. Also it won't use as much air as a 1/2" gun. I personally don't really like the electric guns as they're not as reliable, but you won't be using it everyday so you might benefit from it. I would recommend Ingersal Rand for any pneumatic equipment as they're the most reliable. I would stay away from any Snap-On air guns, they're absolute crap.

For the type of work you'd be doing, the MAX would be a little overkill. Try to find the normal Ti 1/2" gun if you go 1/2".

my air compressor only delivers 7.8 SCFM @ 40psi and 6.0 SCFM @ 90psi.

not sure if that's enough to run that 1/2 IR

Yup, that's why I'd go with the 3/8" Ti. I'm biased though because I have such a strong love for that gun. If you're dealing with over torqued lugs or suspension bolts, that gun might have a problem busting the suckers loose.
