Default what size power supply.....

......would i need to run 10-15 120mm case fans in my aquarium canopy i am building??
:crazyr:

plan so far is to have (2 or 3) on each end blowing inward across the lights, (6) on the back blowing inward on a 45-degree downward angle onto the water & maybe (3) on the front part of the lid blowing outward. there will be a 3/8" gap all around the bottom for additional air circulation

i would say 5v x .5a x number of fans for 10 = 25w figure 20% overhead. you wont need much power.

would there be a better way to power them than just using the necessary plug off a pc power supply w/ multiple y-adapters????

a full PC power supply is overkill just to run a few case fans.

find an old power brick and use that.

Try that.
DC adapter, get your fans. Hook the positive from the power to the red on the first fan. Then you can link negative of fan 1 to positive of fan 2, negative of fan 2 to positive of fan 3, etc etc.

wiring them in series will split the voltage.

they need to be wired in parallel so all fans recieve 5/12 volts.
