To me, shifting in traffic is like chewing food. It has become second nature. I'm not going to switch to a smoothie-only diet just because there are times my steak might require some extra cutting and chewing.

Maybe it's just because I'm old and used to driving stick. Or maybe traffic in the SF Bay Area really isn't as bad as everyone makes it out to be.

Not that I wouldn't ever own an auto... The problem is that with automatics getting better and fewer people driving stick, it's getting harder to find good manual transmission cars, which is kind of sad.

Auto is nice for dd but my truck pisses me off when it doesn't down shift when i want it to and i pretty much have to floor it to make it shift. Sports car must be manual for lyfe however.

I've only been to the track in manual cars, so I dunno... but my guess is if I tried to drive an auto I'd probably stomp the brake pedal thinking it's the clutch and spin off h: When I autocross (depending on the track setup) I usually just keep it in second the whole way h:

Vehicles with real power do just fine with auto

Haven't had a manual in a couple years, but then again I have been DDing V8 trucks.

no i dont drive fast at all, i actually do more city than highway, probably 25/75 split. a/c is on 80 percent of the time.

why are u surprised, the factory rating of a 5 speed LS is 24/32 mpg :dunno:
