i have a bike carrier because i live in a relatively hilly area. if i'm biking for a nice cruise (like at the beach or somewhere more scenic) having a carrier is more convenient...especially if said areas are 50+ miles away

Yeah, I would get the reflectors, but that's money I can use for something else. It's not even on my list. As for the tube bending, the bike is a cheap mongoose and I'm guessing it's made of steel. It's heavy as shit. haha. Kinda a workout getting it on there.

bmw makes one that pulls the bike up for you and brings it down. chance of damaging the car = 0.
