This is true. But, after my 20lb cat (the biggest of our 3) had shredded 4 couches and was beginning to destroy our carpet. (completely ignoring all scratching posts), it was either declaw or get rid b/c he was destroying the apartment we had at the time. We have no regrets.

i mean i'm not like against declawing cats really, if people want to do it, then i don't think it's horrible or anything. i just think it's better if they keep them. my cat has them and goes outside and hunts and does crazy shit. only tears up the molding by the back door h:

parents are just leaving that there and are going to replace it when she's gone.

pff

my cat claws the furniture from time to time ... and fuck if i care. it's part of pet ownership, there's things cats do that you cant always change. i'd rather not have him go through declawing.

You guys talking about declawing as a bad thing, what about nuturing a dog. Leave the nuts alone.

That's how my cat is and she's fine. She still hunts and everything.

lil different

when you declaw a cat its not like trimming a nail ... the claw is connected directly to the bone ... its somewhat similar to someone cutting your finger off at a knuckle. and theres generally no need for it, training and soft paws are effective alternatives

Last time I had a cat was when I was quite young, and honestly don't remember if it had claws still.
my friends cat got declawed and he became nicer and skinnier. :dunno:
